Frequently Asked Questions
Straightforward answers to the questions clients most commonly ask before, during, and after engaging with us.
Working With Us
How do we get started?
The most useful first step is a discovery conversation — typically 45–60 minutes — in which we listen to what you are trying to achieve and the constraints you are working within. We then come back with an initial view on approach, timeline, and commercial structure. Contact us through the website or email to arrange that conversation.
Do you work with early-stage startups?
Yes. We work with early-stage founders through our MVP and Technical Co-Founder service offerings, where we take responsibility for end-to-end product development. For very early-stage projects, we often recommend starting with a Project Scoping engagement — a fixed-fee 2–4 week process that produces a clear technical specification and cost estimate before any development begins.
How do you handle projects where requirements are not fully defined?
Most real projects begin with incomplete requirements — that is normal, not a problem. We typically recommend starting with a discovery or scoping phase that surfaces the decisions that need to be made before development begins. For ongoing projects where requirements evolve, we work in short delivery cycles that allow the product to respond to what is learned as it is built.
Can you work with our existing in-house team?
Yes. We regularly work as an extension of client engineering teams — taking on specific workstreams, providing specialist capability the in-house team does not have, or handling capacity overflow during high-demand periods. We adapt to the client's tooling, processes, and communication preferences rather than requiring them to adapt to ours.
Pricing & Contracts
How are projects priced?
We use several pricing models depending on the nature of the engagement. Fixed-price engagements (where the scope is well-defined) give clients certainty on cost. Time-and-materials engagements (for evolving or exploratory work) give flexibility. Retainer arrangements (for ongoing development, support, or managed services) provide sustained capacity at a predictable monthly cost. We discuss which model fits best during the initial scoping conversation.
What is the minimum engagement size?
We do not have a formal minimum — but as a practical matter, very small one-off tasks are not where we add the most value. Our engagements typically start at a few weeks of dedicated work and are most productive when there is enough scope for us to understand the client's context and build on it over time.
What currencies and payment methods do you accept?
We invoice in Nigerian Naira, British Pounds, US Dollars, and UAE Dirhams depending on the client's location and preference. We accept bank transfer, and can accommodate the payment schedules typical in each market. Specific commercial terms are agreed during contracting.
Delivery & Communication
How do you communicate during a project?
We use whichever tools the client is already using — Slack, Teams, email, or WhatsApp for day-to-day communication, and regular video calls for project reviews. We maintain a shared project space (typically Notion or a similar tool) where clients can see current sprint work, upcoming milestones, risks, and decisions.
Where is the team based?
Our team is distributed across Nigeria (Lagos HQ), the UK, the USA, and Dubai. Day-to-day project work is carried out remotely. We can meet in person with clients in Lagos, London, and Dubai, and we travel for project kick-offs and key milestones by arrangement.
Who owns the code and intellectual property?
For client-funded development work, all code and intellectual property developed for the project belongs to the client upon full payment. Our standard contract specifies this clearly. For products we have developed independently (DigitalSiwes, SearchArtisans, eCertMan, the GreaterHeight Academy), the IP remains with GreaterHeight Technologies.
Still have questions?
Our team is happy to answer any questions not covered here — about our services, our approach, or whether GreaterHeight is the right fit for your specific project.
