Pricing that is
honest from day one.

Technology projects go over budget most often because the commercial structure was wrong for the type of work — a fixed price on scope that was not fully understood, or time and materials on a team with no incentive to finish. GreaterHeight matches pricing structure to project type, explains the trade-offs clearly, and then delivers to the agreed model.

Commercial structures we offer

Time & Materials

You pay for actual hours worked by the agreed team at agreed day rates. Scope can evolve. You retain full flexibility to re-prioritise, change direction, or pause. Best for product development, long-running engagements, and anything where requirements are expected to change. Full transparency through timesheets and sprint reporting.

Fixed Price

A defined deliverable for a defined price. We absorb scope risk; you absorb the risk that requirements change after contract. Requires thorough discovery first — we will not sign a fixed-price contract on requirements we do not understand. Best for stable, well-scoped work: integrations, defined feature sets, clear data migrations.

Monthly Retainer

A fixed monthly commitment for a defined team capacity or number of hours. Predictable cost, ongoing relationship, and priority access to the team. Best for dedicated product teams, managed services, and advisory relationships. Often combined with time and materials for work that exceeds the retainer ceiling.

Milestone-Based

Payment tied to defined project milestones — typically a hybrid of fixed-price and time-and-materials, where payment stages are defined but scope within each stage can adapt. Good for multi-phase projects where the client wants budget certainty at each gate before committing to the next phase.

Discovery Before Commitment

For larger engagements, we recommend a paid discovery sprint before any main contract is signed — typically 2–4 weeks producing detailed requirements, architecture, and a reliable estimate. This investment consistently prevents the much larger cost of a poorly-scoped engagement.

Rate Transparency

We share day rates, team compositions, and estimate methodology openly. You understand exactly what you are paying for, who is working on your project, and how the commercial terms protect both parties fairly.
