Step 1
Discovery & Scope
Structured discovery to understand requirements, constraints, dependencies, and definition of done — producing a scope document and initial backlog before the first line of code is written.
Step 2
Sprint Planning
Two-week sprints with clearly defined goals, team capacity, and acceptance criteria per story — a plan that is realistic from day one rather than optimistic and progressively disappointing.
Step 3
Build & Review
Daily standups, sprint reviews with working software demos at the end of every sprint — you see progress in working increments, not Gantt charts and status decks.
Step 4
Quality Assurance
Testing integrated throughout each sprint — unit tests, integration tests, and user acceptance testing — not a QA phase bolted on at the end when there is no time left to fix what is found.
Step 5
Delivery & Retrospective
Production deployment, documentation, knowledge transfer, and retrospective — learning what worked, what did not, and applying that to the next phase or engagement.
