Our Infrastructure
The tools we trust
with our clients'
most important work.
Infrastructure choices are not neutral. The platforms a technology firm runs on signal how seriously it takes engineering discipline, security, scalability, and long-term maintainability. Here is what GreaterHeight is built on — and why.
Platforms & tools at a glance
Why it matters
Infrastructure is a statement about what you value
A firm that builds on whatever is cheapest is telling you something about how it prioritises quality. A firm that chases every new tool is telling you something about its depth. GreaterHeight's infrastructure choices are deliberate: proven tools with strong communities, appropriate for the class of problem, and matched to the operating environments our clients work in.
We do not adopt technologies because they are fashionable. We adopt them because they are right for the job, supported well enough to be reliable, and mature enough that the risks are known. When a newer tool is genuinely better for a specific problem, we use it — with a clear rationale, not because it appeared in a conference talk.
Equally, we do not lock clients into exotic stacks that only our team can maintain. The tools below are widely understood, well-documented, and manageable by any competent engineering team after we hand over. That is the point.
Proven, not fashionable
We choose tools with established track records and active communities. A technology that has been in production for five years and solved real problems is more valuable than one that is three months old and trending.
Maintainable after handover
Every technology choice is evaluated against a simple question: can the client's own team, or any competent team they hire later, understand and extend this without coming back to us?
Context-appropriate
A stack that works well for a Silicon Valley SaaS startup with fibre broadband and a 20-person engineering team is not automatically right for a Lagos-based logistics firm with mixed connectivity and a team of three. Context shapes the choice.
Languages
Python · JavaScript · TypeScript
Primary languages across web, data, AI, and automation workloads. Python for data engineering and AI. TypeScript for large-scale front-end and back-end Node.js projects.
Frontend
React · Next.js · Vue.js
React and Next.js for SPAs and SSR web applications. Vue.js for projects where a lighter framework is more appropriate. HTML5/CSS3 for content-first sites where a full framework adds unnecessary overhead.
Backend & APIs
Node.js · Django · FastAPI · .NET
Node.js for real-time and event-driven systems. Django and FastAPI for Python-based APIs and data-heavy back ends. .NET for enterprise integration projects where the client ecosystem requires it.
Mobile
React Native · Flutter
React Native where a shared codebase and web-familiar development team matters. Flutter where native performance and a single codebase across Android and iOS is the priority.
CMS & E-Commerce
WordPress · WooCommerce · Shopify
WordPress remains the right choice for many content-led and marketing sites — mature, well-supported, and manageable by non-technical teams. Shopify for commerce where a hosted platform removes operational burden.
Version Control & CI/CD
GitHub · GitHub Actions · GitLab
All projects under version control from day one. GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines. Automated testing, linting, and deployment verification on every pull request — not as an afterthought at handover.
Cloud Platforms
AWS · Microsoft Azure · Google Cloud
Multi-cloud capable. AWS for most production workloads given its breadth and African region availability. Azure for clients with existing Microsoft ecosystems. GCP for data and ML-heavy deployments.
Containerisation
Docker · Kubernetes
Docker for consistent build and deployment environments. Kubernetes for orchestrating containerised workloads at scale. Applied where the complexity is warranted — not imposed on projects where a simpler deployment serves equally well.
Infrastructure as Code
Terraform · AWS CloudFormation
Infrastructure defined in code, version-controlled, and reproducible. Environments are not built by hand and documented in a spreadsheet. Every production environment has a corresponding IaC definition.
Monitoring & Observability
Datadog · AWS CloudWatch · Sentry
Application performance monitoring, error tracking, and alerting configured before launch — not added when something breaks. Clients receive access to their own monitoring dashboards as part of handover.
Low-Bandwidth Design
PWA · Offline-first · CDN-optimised
Applications designed for African connectivity realities: progressive web app patterns, offline capability where appropriate, CDN delivery for static assets, image optimisation, and graceful degradation on slow connections.
Security
OWASP · SSL/TLS · SAST/DAST
OWASP Top 10 awareness built into development practice. Automated static and dynamic security analysis. SSL/TLS enforced across all deployments. Security is not a final checklist — it is woven through the build.
Databases
PostgreSQL · MySQL · MongoDB · Redis
Relational databases for structured data with integrity requirements. MongoDB for flexible document storage. Redis for caching, session management, and real-time data structures. Chosen by the data model, not by default.
Data Pipelines
Apache Airflow · dbt · Kafka
Airflow for orchestrating data workflows. dbt for transforming data inside warehouses with version-controlled SQL. Kafka for event-driven architectures and real-time data streaming where the volume warrants it.
Data Warehousing
BigQuery · Snowflake · Redshift
Cloud data warehouses for analytical workloads that relational databases are not designed for. Choice depends on existing cloud estate and data volume — we recommend the right fit, not the platform we are most comfortable with.
Business Intelligence
Power BI · Tableau · Metabase
Power BI for Microsoft-integrated environments. Tableau for enterprise visual analytics. Metabase as a cost-effective, self-hostable option appropriate for many SME contexts — especially where the client team will own the dashboards.
AI & Machine Learning
OpenAI · LangChain · TensorFlow · Hugging Face
LLM integration via OpenAI and Hugging Face models. LangChain for orchestrating AI workflows, RAG pipelines, and agents. TensorFlow and scikit-learn for custom model training when pre-trained models are insufficient.
Search
Elasticsearch · Algolia · Typesense
Elasticsearch for full-text and vector search at scale. Algolia for projects where a managed hosted search reduces operational overhead. Typesense for self-hosted, bandwidth-efficient search appropriate for many African deployment contexts.
Project Management
Jira · Trello · Notion
Jira for development-intensive projects where sprint tracking and issue management matters. Trello for lighter project boards. Notion for documentation-heavy work where a knowledge base is as important as the task list.
Design & Prototyping
Figma · Adobe XD
Figma for collaborative UI/UX design with shared access for clients and developers. Design systems, component libraries, and prototypes live here — not in a file emailed back and forth.
Communication
Slack · Microsoft Teams · WhatsApp
Slack for internal team communication and client project channels. Teams where the client organisation is Microsoft-integrated. WhatsApp as the practical reality for client communication in Nigerian and broader African business contexts.
Documentation
Confluence · Notion · GitHub Wiki
Technical documentation lives alongside the code in GitHub Wiki for developer-facing content. Confluence and Notion for broader project and operational documentation that client teams need to own and update after handover.
Digital Marketing
Google Analytics · SEMrush · Mailchimp
GA4 for web analytics and conversion tracking. SEMrush for SEO research and competitive analysis. Mailchimp and similar platforms for email marketing campaigns. All set up with proper consent and data governance from the start.
Training Delivery
Zoom · Google Meet · LMS platforms
Remote training delivered via Zoom and Google Meet with recorded sessions for review. GreaterHeight Academy uses an LMS for structured course delivery — cohort management, assessments, and completion tracking built in.
Proprietary Platforms
Products we have built and operate ourselves
Beyond client work, GreaterHeight has invested in building its own platforms — tools that address specific gaps in the African digital ecosystem, and that demonstrate the quality of engineering we apply to client projects.
